A critical error has occurred. An unexpected error has occurred
Message from Administration

Hello Panthers,I am Clint Whitfield, and I am the principal at Tommy Smith Elementary. Just to tell you a little bit about myself... I grew up in Long Beach, Mississippi and went to Long Beach High School, Home of the Bearcats. I went to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and played baseball for two years. I then played for one year at Mississippi College before transferring to Southern Miss, where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in History.

Go EAGLES! I moved to Panama City, Florida in 2005, and taught at Haney Technical High School for one year, and then I taught for 6 years at Mosley High School. I taught History, coached basketball, baseball, girls weightlifting, and sponsored Beta Club.
My administrative career began at Breakfast Point Academy in 2012 as an Assistant Administrator, and I became an Assistant Principal there in 2015 before I came to Tommy Smith Elementary as your principal.
"Every child, every day" is the motto and creed that I live by each day. I truly believe that every child is capable of learning, and that our school has the tools and strategies available to produce young, virtuous students who can thrive socially, academically, and responsibly. I
believe the keystone to our students' success is student engagement and making our school a safe, fun, and amazing place to learn. My teachers are dedicated to the success of our children, and it is important to all of us that we provide your children what they need.
I envision Tommy Smith Elementary as a place that students, staff, teachers, parents, and the community come together as a team and a family to make this school a great educational  center, and at the heart of it all, is student success and achievement.
I look forward to building on the foundations of excellence at Tommy Smith, and leading us into a new era of academic distinction among Bay County, and throughout Florida.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you or your child as we work together for our children's future.
Clint Whitfield

I am Serenity Anderson, and it is a privilege to join the Tommy Smith Elementary team!  I graduated from Rutherford High School in 1997, and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Florida State University.  I began my teaching career at Hiland Park Elementary as a third grade teacher.  During that time, I was awarded National Board Certification as well as earning a Master’s Degree in Reading Instruction and Curriculum.   After teaching elementary students for seven years, I served as an English Language Arts Staff Training Specialist for Bay District Schools for two years.  I began my administrative career in 2013 as the Assistant Administrator at Deer Point Elementary.

I am excited about my new journey as a PANTHER and cannot wait to begin the new school year.  I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of the new and wonderful things happening at Tommy Smith Elementary School.  I am eager to watch our students grow into responsible, organized, accountable and respectful leaders in our school and community.
