Welcome to Merriam Cherry Street’s web page. We are a neighborhood school nestled in the Cove of Panama City. This past year we were proud to remain an A school under the stringent Florida grading system. We enjoy a spacious campus with areas dedicated to art, music, student services and physical education. This year we are fortunate, once again, to receive some funding through the Title One program which allows us to continue our RtI services to students in need of extra help, staff the computer lab and help fund one paraprofessional. 

Each grade level has ninety minutes of reading and 60 minutes of math daily in addition to science, writing and social studies. We also offer outstanding special area classes under the direction of Kevin Hall – physical education, Karen Stovall - music and Susan Wise – Art. This year we will be departmentalizing the fourth and fifth grade. Students will move between three teachers who will teach their core subjects. Please watch for our grade level programs and art displays. 4th and 5th grade students participate in the daily ITV broadcast that begins the school day. Our faculty is dedicated, highly experienced and energetic.

Parent Involvement is very important to Cherry St. Two Art Nights and two Family Reading Nights are planned to encourage our families to spend time together. Our PTO is an active and integral part of Cherry Street. PTO plans fund raising activities throughout the year and supports many school events such as the Fall Festival. Accelerated Reader is highly encouraged and funded through the Box Tops for Education collection managed by our media center.
