In 1620 European settlers called Pilgrims moved to North America. They came all the way across the Atlantic Ocean in a very big ship named the “Mayflower”.
When the Pilgrims landed they met people who have lived in the Americas for thousands of years. These people are called Native Americans. The Native Americans helped the Pilgrims to live through the very cold winter and helped them to plant corn and other vegetables in the spring.
Every year in the fall, we celebrate Thanksgiving just like the first Pilgrims and Native Americans did. We always have a big feast and we eat turkey and lots of other good foods and enjoy being together with our family.
