Britt Smith


For more than a quarter century, Britt Smith has served as a school principal in Bay, Orange and Seminole counties.  He is a product of the Bay District Schools and earned degrees from the University of Central Florida, Florida State University, and Gulf Coast Community College, now known as Gulf Coast State College. He is excited to have joined the Marlin Family in February 2019 and is committed to fulfilling J.R. Arnold High School’s goal of being the premier high school in Northwest Florida.



Julie Carmichael
Assistant Principal of Guidance

Julie Carmichael is a lifelong resident of Panama City, and is the daughter of Jimmy and Lynn Funchess. She graduated from Mosley High School, Gulf Coast Community College, Florida State University-Panama City and received her Master of Science from Troy State University in Counseling and Psychology. In 1998, Julie began her career in Bay District Schools. She is currently the Assistant Principal of Guidance at Arnold High School and is proud to be a Marlin!  She has two beautiful daughters and a fabulous stepson along with the perfect husband, Tim.. She loves relaxing at the beach, taking cruises, reading, football season, and watching movies.

Richard Hartzer

A graduate of Mosley High School, Gulf Coast State College, Florida State University and the University of West Florida. He began his teaching career at Jinks Middle School  in 2007, and after 3 years transferred to Mosley High School.  He taught at MHS for 2 years before moving into administration, where he spent 6 years before transferring to Arnold High School in 2018.


Anji Dunlap 

Administrative Assistant

Anji Dunlap is a 1993 graduate of Florida State University. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education K-12.  After graduation, Ms. Dunlap began her teaching career at Holy Nativity Episcopal School teaching 3K-5th grade Physical Education.  She moved into the Bay County School system in 1994 accepting a position at Bay High School.  In 2000, Ms. Dunlap became one of the charter members of Arnold High School.  Over the last twenty years, Ms. Dunlap has coached numerous sports including girls weightlifting, volleyball, soccer and softball.  In May 2015, Ms. Dunlap received her Master of Education degree from The University of West Florida and moved into an assistant administrator position at the school she likes to call “home”.  Ms. Dunlap has a son that attends Arnold High School.  She loves watching his many sporting events, reading and laying on the beach.


Terry Hagler
Administrative Assistant

Terry Hagler is a native of Dothan, Alabama. He graduated from William  Carey College with degrees in English and Music Education. Mr. Hagler completed his Master of Education degree at the University of South Alabama. Prior to joining the staff at Arnold, he taught band and choir in the Dothan City Schools. He joined the staff at Arnold in 2004 and has been Administrative Assistant since 2008. Mr. Hagler’s wife, Kaye, is retired from Arnold and writing her second book. They enjoy the music, beach, kayaking, fishing, and traveling together.
