JROTC

The Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is a leadership program designed to give students a sense of direction and a head start.  NJROTC main focus is on developing an individual’s self-discipline, self-confidence, self-reliance, teamwork, and leadership skills to help you successfully meet life’s challenges head on. The Naval Science curriculum includes subjects such as leadership, governement, naval history, citizenship, orienteering, oceanography, meteorology, air-rifle range, physical education, and intra-personal skills. NJROTC is a 3 or 4-year program.  It consists of a minimum of 180 class periods per year that include academic training, community service, opportunities for promotions/leadership, training/orientation cruises, head to head competitions with other units, and field trips to various facilities to enhance classroom study. JROTC aide’s students to become competitive for; JROTC scholarship’s to major universities, or an appointment to the US Naval Academy or other service academies. In NJROTC you learn to take great pride in your country, your community, your team, and YOURSELF.
