The
Builders Club meets the first and third Tuesday of each month in D-119 at
8:00 a.m.
Welcome!
Ms. Granberg and Mrs.
Lindner are the sponsors for the Builders Club. They are
excited about what this year holds for the Club.
What is Builders Club?
Builders Club is a “student-led”
community service organization, which operates under school regulations
and draws its members from the student body. Community-based Builders
Clubs also may be established at community facilities such as: churches,
libraries, YMCA’s, or lodges. Builders Club is unique because a Kiwanis
club, composed of leading business and professional people of the
community, serves as the club’s sponsor.
Builders Club is structured only on the
local club level but is supported by the Kiwanis International Office in
Indianapolis
,
Indiana
, which provides programs, literature, and opportunities to relate to
teenagers from countries all around the world!
Builders Club
Objectives:
- To
provide opportunities for working together in service to school and
community.
- To
develop leadership potential.
- To
foster the development of strong moral character.
- To
encourage loyalty to school, community, and nation.
How do students benefit?
Middle school years bridge the gap between
childhood and young adulthood. It is a crossroads in life. Young people
need and want new and exciting challenges that direct their personal
development toward the fulfillment of a happy and productive life.
Builders Club helps to build strong leaders for tomorrow...today.
Builders Club provides a way to form sound personal values based on
experiences in meaningful community-service activities. The members learn
by doing. They learn organization, teamwork, and leadership. But the most
important lesson they can learn is that individuals working together can
and will make a difference to the world around them.
Special
Thanks:
The Kiwanis Club of
Panama City
for sponsoring our club and Keith Forehand the Kiwanis Advisor.
What
we've done in 2004-2005:
We
had a Valentine's Lollipop Fundraiser and a Fundraiser for Kyle Hellet, a
nine-year old boy who got shot in the eye with a pellet gun. We hope to
use the funds from the Lollipop's to purchase shirts for our club and help
toward the purchase of a pencil dispensing machine. On February 25th some
of our members went to the Special Olympics at Tommy Oliver Stadium. It
was a very rewarding experience for our members to cheer on those less
fortunate than themselves. We hope to have at least one more field trip
this year.
