The Bear Band

Lou Lyda  

The MBMS Marching Band, under the direction of Mr. Lou Lyda has performed several years in a row at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  They have performed at the annual Panhandle Battle of the Bands and garnered great acclaim.  If you are a MBMS student and are interested in becoming a member of the Band...  contact Mr. Lyda or drop him an E-Mail from here.  

Band Boosters

     We need your help!!!  You can support the Merritt Brown Middle School Band by joining the Band Boosters. The Band Boosters raise money through a wide array of fund raisers.  All funds raised go directly toward increasing the capability of our students to learn and grow as performers.  We partially fund an annual performance excursion to Disney World where the Band has marched and performed for several consecutive spring times. 

Band Booster meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM in the MBMS band room.  We Need You!!!  For additional information call Mr. Lyda at his band office (872-4730) or email him at: lydalm@bay.k12.fl.us

Band Rehearsal Information 
     Band Rehearsal for the MBMS Marching Band begins each Tuesday and Thursday afternoons after school and runs until 4:30 PM. 

Parents:  Please insure that your Band Members are picked up PROMPTLY at 4:30 on these practice days.

Pictures From The Past 

     We would like to put pictures of our past performances or maybe just normal class activities up on the Web.  If you have any MBMS Band related photos you would like to share with the world, put your name and address on the backs and bring them to Mr. Lyda.  We will scan them and get them back to you as soon as possible.
