Dotty
Cook - Media Specialist
Our Media Center is the hub of the learning circle at Merritt Brown. We provide the
students with reference materials, reading materials, periodicals and technology to assist
them in their learning.
The School's
Instructional Television Program is a function of the Media Center. We produce
a morning announcements program called "Bear Country Today" using
a student crew. The crew writes, directs, and produces our
program each morning.

The Media Center is also the office primarily responsible for installing, upgrading, and
maintaining the school's 250+ computers and the school's computer network.
Also, the Media Center maintains its own computer center
of 14 PCs. It is used for research,
Internet, STAR testing, typing and all of the other normal middle school
computer projects...
All of
Merritt Brown's classrooms are network cabled and fully operational. All teachers
and students have Internet access in their classrooms. Our goal for the future is
five computers per classroom - all up and running on the Net.
Our Library's primary method of accounting for and
controlling our inventory of books and equipment is Athena.
