Deer Point Elementary students participate in standardized testing each year. All students are assessed using Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) at least two times each school year. Students in third, fourth, and fifth grades are assessed on their mastery of Florida Standards in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics through the Florida Standards Assessment. In addition, fifth graders complete an FCAT science assessment.
The scores of the third, fourth, and fifth grade students are used to calculate a school grade each year. In 2015, the calculation of school grades was delayed significantly as the validity of the new FSA was determined
