5th Grade

Sheila Hood 

Mrs. Hood is a graduate of Florida A&M University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She has been a Bay District employee for five years and this will be her eighteenth year in teaching. Before going back to earn her degree she worked as an accountant. She and her husband have been married for 34 years and have one son and one daughter. She loves spending time with family and friends and especially her granddaughter. She loves to crochet and spend time at the beach.


Shannon Miller

Mrs. Miller was born and raised in Georgia. She married her high school sweetheart and has 2 fabulous children.

Mrs. Miller has earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education. She also has a degree in special education with an ESOL endorsement.

This will be Mrs. Miller’s 11th year of teaching and 3rd year at Deer Point.

Terri Werning

 Mrs. Werning is a graduate of Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. This will be her second year teaching at Deer Point Elementary and her fourth year as a teacher. Prior to becoming a teacher, Mrs. Werning was a stay at home mom. It wasn’t until her son entered Kindergarten and she began volunteering and substitute teaching at her son’s school that she realized her true passion was for working with children. Mrs. Werning and her husband were married in 1995 and they have three grown children, Heather, Kayla and Tristan. Outside of school, Mrs. Werning enjoys spending time with her family, and outdoor activities! She is excited to begin another wonderful year at Deer Point Elementary!

Stacy Thomason

Stacy Thomason was born and raised right here in Panama City, Florida! Stacy graduated in 2003 from FSU-PC with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She has taught at Waller, Hiland Park, and is starting her 6th year as an Angler! All together she has fifteen years of experience teaching 4th and 5th grade! Her and her husband, Luke, have two children, Presley who is going in to third grade and Colton who will be starting Pre-K. They love spending their time together doing things as a family. One of the most important things they do together is attend church. They believe it is necessary to survive.
