Florida Bright Futures Scholarships

The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program is a lottery-funded scholarship that rewards students for their academic achievements during high school by providing funding for them to pursue post-secondary educational and career goals in Florida.

The Bright Future Scholarship is funded by the State of Florida and is awarded to high school students meeting the required criteria for the scholarship. This includes Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars, Florida Medallion Scholars, and Florida Academic Scholars. Initial Eligibility Requirements must be met prior to graduation from a Florida high school. Students must apply by submitting a Florida Financial Aid Application at www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org during their last year in high school (after December 1 and prior to graduation).

Bright Futures students will receive a letter from the Florida Department of Education notifying them of their eligibility. The letter will have the procedures for the student to follow to ensure they receive their funds at the appropriate institution. These funds can pay an award amount per clock hour set by the Florida Legislature. You must maintain the required cumulative GPA and earn the minimum hours for the award you received to renew your scholarship each year. Students attending two schools may request a consortium agreement from the financial aid office to ensure that the scholarship pays for all hours enrolled.

Visit the Bright Futures website http:www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/SSFAD/bf/bfmain.htm to learn more about the initial eligibility, award levels, and other important information regarding the Bright Futures Scholarship. Questions relating to confidential information about student eligibility should be directed to the Bright Futures Hotline toll-free at 1-888-827-2004. To request General Information about Bright Futures, email them at OSFA@fldoe.org.
