The purpose of the Administrative Office Specialist course is to prepare students for employment as a general office clerk, secretary, administrative assistant, or to provide supplemental secretary training for persons previously or currently employed in any of these occupations. The Administrative Office Specialist program offers broad knowledge and skills expanding the traditional role of the administrative assistant.

Administrative Office Specialist course teaches:

  • written and verbal communication skills
  • higher level thinking skills and decision making skills
  • the performance of office procedures and tasks
  • administrative/financial functions using QuickBooks
  • basic digital production design

Age: 16 years or older

Basic Skills: Unless exempt, students' competency in reading, math, and language are assessed within six (6) weeks of program entry using the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Required basic skill grade levels are: Reading 10A, Math 10A, and Language 10A.
