The program is 1200 hours in length. There are three classes each year. The program is designed to train students through a sequential set of learning tasks necessary for State board preparation, graduation, and entry-level job skills. Within the program, subjects will be presented by means of lecture, demonstration, and student participation. Learning tools include audiovisual aids, guest speakers, field trips, projects, activities, textbook and workbook, periodicals, charts and service sheets, computer, handouts, etc. Lab equipment, implements and products are comparable to those used in the industry. The course is designed to follow the Florida Department of Cosmetology and the Florida Department of Education frameworks. At the satisfactory completion of the program, the student will be granted a Certificate of Completion, which will allow the student to become eligible to take the Florida State Board of Cosmetology examination and become successfully emplyed as a Cosmetologist.
Some of the duties performed by a Cosmetologist include:
- Take appointments
- Greet clients
- Perform multiple services
- Be able to formulate
- Knowledge of terminology
- Must maintain a 75 average
The program is a planned sequence of instruction consisting of one (1) Occupational Completion Point (OCP) and four (4) courses.

Basic Skills: Unless exempt, students' competency in reading, math, and language are assessed within six (6) weeks of program entry using the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Required basic skill grade levels are: Reading 9, Math 8, and Language 8.

Dudley's Class: Noon to 3:45 p.m.
Fowler's Class: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
