How to Set Up Weekly Progress Reports - Weekly progress reports are excellent ways to keep communication lines open between teachers and parents. Students are always able to initiate these at any time during the school year and it is easy to do. Each Friday students just need to come into the guidance ofice and sign in on the Progress Report Notebook and pick up a Progress Report. They do not have to see their counselors or even ask for any assisstance. Then they give them to each of their teachers early in the period so that the teachers can have time to sign them and write any messages that they may want the parents to see. The students pick them up at the end of the period and take them to their next class. This way parents know to expect these reports every Friday. How to Set Up a Conference With the Teachers -Communication between parents and teachers is very important. Many times parents can ask to have the teachers call them, teachers may email parents, or sometimes it is best to have a parent/teacher conference. In that case, it is best to call your student's counselor and ask for a conference to be scheduled. Most conferences are scheduled for 2:40 pm when school is out and all the teachers involved may attend. A 24 hour notice is required to give the teachers before a meeting is scheduled.
