Working daily on phonics, phonemic awareness, comprehension, vocabulary and fluency, Mosley's reading students are on the path to success both on the FCAT and in all of their academic and elective classes. Mosley's innovative, comprehensive reading program takes a tiered, structured approach to remediating struggling readers. Utilizing a variety of diagnostic tools, Mosley reading teachers have placed students in classes targeted specifically for their needs. The entire school is collaborating on a "Word of the Day" program designed to bring new vocabulary to readers of all levels and all content area teachers are incorporating a plethora of reading strategies into their daily curriculum.
Reading students are exposed to explicit modeling and instruction in their reading classes and have the opportunity to work with award-winning computer software. Students spend a significant amount of time each day reading leveled text and non-fiction selections and participate in authentic assessments designed to help them grow as readers.
