Youth who have mentors are:
The Mentor Program at New Horizons Learning Center is part of a state wide program, The Florida Mentoring Partnership. These volunteers are offering guidance, friendship and academic support. They provide hope for the future by “Making A Difference” in students’ lives.
Through the generous donations from our community business partners we are able to take our students and mentors on field trips. We have taken our group on an educational trip to the Capitol in Tallahassee, and also a memorable visit to the Clifford Sims Veteran’s Home. This enables our students to share information with their government and history classes when they return. They share this informative learning experience through speech and journals.
Our donations are also used to buy items for the school reward store and provide clothing for those students who need assistance with the selective dress code. At various times during the school year, we provide entertaining reward events for the students and mentors.
We take pride in the success we have experienced with our Mentor Program. Working together has made this a reality and our students are the winners!!
