     To the Parents of 6th Graders.

 

The state requires all incoming 7th grade students to have an up-to-date tetanus booster.

 

The new Tdap vaccine is the preferred immunization to meet requirement. Tdap is available at your private physician's office or at the Bay County Health Department.

 

After your child has been immunized , please return a completed immunization form to school.

Are You Connected With Your  Child?

Teens often act like they want their parents to disappear. In fact, they actually want to stay connected. Studies show that teens who remain close to parents are happier and healthier. They also stay closer as adults.

      

Are you staying connected?

Answer Yes or No to each of

the following statements.

 

_____1. We have a regular “date” to do something fun together.  A one on one event –such as going out for lunch or eating a special breakfast.

 

____ 2. I try to do things my teen likes. If he/she is interested in hockey, I’ll get tickets to a game. If he/she likes computers, I’ll look for a class we can take together.

 

____ 3. I listen to my teen’s music. I sometimes ask him/her  to make a  “mix CD” of songs he/she likes.

 

____ 4. I sign up to chaperone. If my teen and his/her friends want to go to a concert I volunteer to drive.

 

____ 5. I try buy my child less, and instead  spend more time with my him or her.

Each Yes answer is a way to build stronger bonds with your teen both now and in the future. For each No answer, try the idea from the question to strengthen your relationship.
