ACT is Bay High’s newest program. The ADVANCED COLLEGE TRACK program allows students to begin working on their college degree earlier in their academic careers and thus complete their degree in a shorter period of time. Beginning in 9th grade, students can take honors coursework to prepare them for college classes. 10th, 11th, or 12th grade students meeting college placement test standards and/or high school eligibility standards may participate in dual enrollment classes at Bay or at the college.
Students in dual enrollment classes do not pay registration, matriculation, or lab fees. Bay High School provides textbooks and instructional materials.
Liberal Arts core requirement courses offered at Bay range from ENC 1101, EUH 1000, POS 2041, PSY 2012, EVR 1001, BSC 1005, MUL 2010, and we offer four college level math courses that fit the required 6 credit hour requirement. Further, we offer numerous electives in the dual enrollment program. Some of these are for vocational areas and serve students who are entering the world of work and do not seek a four year degree.
Through college-level AP courses, students enter a universe of knowledge that might otherwise remain unexplored in high school; through AP Exams, students have the opportunity to earn credit or advanced standing at most of the nation's colleges and universities.
Across 6 subject areas offered on our campus, AP offers something for everyone. The only requirements are a strong curiosity about the subject you plan to study, the willingness to work hard, and entry into the ADVANCED COLLEGE TRACK program.
Students who have taken AP exams in high school are able to skip general education requirements and head straight into the higher-level classes they want to take. With qualifying AP Exam grades, students earn credit, placement, or both at more than 90% of four-year colleges and universities in the United States. At many of these institutions, you can earn up to a full year of college credit (sophomore standing) once you have obtained a sufficient number of qualifying AP Exam grades.
Students participating in this program may also participate in the Bay High Academy of Arts and Sciences.
