REGIONALS:
Wow!  What an amazing Regional Meet!  Eight swimmers advanced to finals, and we also had eight swimmers in consolation heats.  Many personal best times were posted, and we witnessed some of the fastest swimming in the state of Florida.  We are very proud of your accomplishments this season.  It was awesome to take over half the team to Regionals.  Let's plan to take MORE next year!

DISTRICT:
Bay High School and 8 other schools just finished swimming in the FHSAA District 1 - 1A Championship Swim Competition.  They had an absolutely outstanding performance.  With just 19 swimmers competing in the meet today, Bay took five District Titles, also known as 1st place finishes, in addition to three 2nd place finishes, two 3rd place finishes, three 4th place finishes, two 5th place finishes, three 6th place finishes, one 7th place finishes, and four 8th place finishes.  That is 23 regional qualifying swims.  A minimum of 68% of the team will go to the regional meet next week in Tallahassee, with one relay that could still qualify based on the times posted by the other 2 district competitions.  That relay would take Bay's total to 84%, or 16 out of 19 swimmers advancing to regionals.  Remarkable performances were had by an overwhelming majority of the team, but a few key swimmers stood out.  Captain Ian McGuire unexpectedly shattered his personal record to win the boy's 500 yard freestyle.  JD Clutch set personal bests in both the 50 freestyle (24.00) and the 100 backstroke (59.23) to capture both titles.  Taylor Loyd, two time county champion, takes home a second place in the girls 100 freestyle (57.77) and a 3rd place in the 100 backstroke (1:08.47)

Most impressively, Allison Troia, county champion in the 200 Individual Medley, is now also district champion with a personal record time of 2:19.97.  She was already the school record holder in the 100 breaststroke, she broke that record in prelims in the morning, and then shattered it again in finals with an untouchable 1:10.73.  If that weren't enough, she takes home two second place relay finishes in the Girls 200 Medley Relay (Loyd, Troia, Woodrum, and Prichard), and the Girls 200 Freestyle Relay (Troia, Seale, Woodrum, and Loyd), both of which should advance to regionals and have a chance at qualifying for state.

Bay High girls finished in 3rd place overall to another local team Arnold High (1st), and were just 20 points away from second place team, Florida High.  Bay High boys finished 4th place overall to Rickards, Arnold, and Suwannee, but were just 5 points away from 3rd place Suwannee.
