Dr. Sue G. Cochran Scholarship
The Dr. Sue G. Cochran Scholarship to Gulf Coast Community College is in honor of Dr. Cochran who is a former teacher and principal at Cedar Grove Elementary School. Our Student Council earned $10,000 in five years and in 1990 endowed the Dr. Sue Cochran Scholarship at Gulf Coast Community College.
The funding is provided by the endowment as well as money we earn from our recycling program. The recycling program teaches our students the value of recycling and emphasizes the importance of college.
To be eligible for the scholarship, a person must be a full time college student, maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average, and must have attended Cedar Grove Elementary for at least one year. The number of scholarships awarded and the amount of each scholarship are dependent upon the amount of money raised by the recycling program.
