Multi-Age Learning Communities:
In a multi-age learning community, age and grades do not divide the learners. Every child in the "family" can become a successful learner on their own continuum of growth. Teachers facilitate the learning of each child while creating a wonderful and successful educational adventure.
Habits of Mind:
"Habit is a cable; we weave a thread of it each day, and at last we cannot break it." This quote by Horace Mann embodies the Habits of Mind approach towards character development. As a means of character education, the Deer Point faculty and staff will work to create habits within students that foster a climate of thinking. The daily weaving of such things as flexible thinking, questioning, and persistence will help students catch a culture of success.
Enrichment Clubs:
As parent involvement grows, Deer Point will offer enrichment clubs after school as a continuation of our culture of excellence. Students will be "hooked" on such enrichment activities such as Spanish, chorus, drama, fine arts, and more.
