 We believe in the worth of every individual and that:
  • All students can learn
  • Every individual should have the opportunity for a quality education
  • Hands-on activities, with a real world application will better prepare our students for life
  • Through a cooperative effort with our parents, students & community, our students can be successful
  • Each staff member of New Horizons Learning Center (NHLC) will be a role model for our students
  • Students will take the responsibility for their own actions
  • Firm, fair, consistent discipline is needed for a successful learning environment
  • No student has the right to interfere with another student’s opportunity to get a quality education
  • Parents, teachers and community members must share the responsibility of educating students
  • Developmentally appropriate instruction is necessary for academic progress
  • Academic success will be recognized and rewarded
  • Behavioral success will be recognized and rewarded
  • Every student has something positive to offer
 

Our Mission Statement:
 
Our mission is to provide a quality educational program for special needs and at-risk students that will ensure successes in a changing world. 
Our program will be real-life related featuring academic instruction that will provide hands on activities, focused on the Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Drop Out Prevention Plans for each student.  The diverse cultures represented here, the diverse needs and abilities of our students, as well as, the diverse interests of our students will be factors that guide our instructional efforts.  Full correlation of the Sunshine State Standards will be the primary focus of our educational program.  Our key areas will be:
1) A therapeutic/behavioral program focused on anger control, communication and life
    management skills    
2) Continual focus on technology
