program. Parents are urged to be actively involved in the education of children. 

Some of the ways you can help children succeed in school include: 
reading to them daily, joining PTO or the Advisory Council, 
volunteering at school, getting to know your child's teacher,

FCAT EXPLORER

3rd, 4th and 5th grade students in the state of Florida are required to take the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test, or FCAT. The following site has been developed to provide you with supplementary questions that are similar to the real FCAT. www.fcatexplorer.com

Remember that these tests were designed to give you an opportunity to practice with similar items you will find on the state test. You can discuss the results of these practice tests with your child's teacher, who can provide feedback on specific items.

Students should know their login information. If your child forgets, you can obtain this information by emailing Barbara Johnson at johnsobc@bay.k12.fl.us.

PRE-K REGISTRATION INFORMATION Minimize
 



Pre-K application process will open on Monday, March 16 at 7:30 AM CST. 
At this time you can access the application at www.bay.k12.fl.us/prek.
Parents that do not have computer access may call 872-4201 or 842-4358. 
Remember this is an application, not registration. Parents will receive a letter from the Pre-K department when accepted. Space is limited.

Waller Elementary is a Title I School. Title I is a supplementary, federally funded educational program. The program is implemented in qualifying schools to provide an enriched and accelerated learning environment for students. Achievement of high academic standards is promoted through the services and resources provided by Title I.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

A child must be five years old by September 1 of the current school year to begin kindergarten or six years old by September 1 to enter first grade.

The following documents must be presented in order to register a student for school:

  • proof of residence
  • student’s birth certificate
  • a copy of the last report card if the child was enrolled in another school system
  • proof of a physical examination (Form DH 3040) within one year prior to enrolling in school if entering a Florida school for the first time
  • social security card
  • Florida certificate of immunization (Form DH 680)

If documentation of the medical exam (Form DH 3040) is not presented at the time of registration, a
students is allowed 30 days to show certification of a medical exam. Students out of compliance with this rule will not be allowed to attend school until the certification is presented.

Changes to Bay District Schools Classroom Visitation

While parents/guardians are encouraged to visit the school throughout the year, visitors can impact the learning process for some students. For the protection of our children, all parents/guardians or other visitors much check in at the main office. Other important changes have been made to the Bay District Schools Classroom Visitation Policy to ensure the safety of our children.

Waller Dress Code Minimize

The following is the uniform for Waller:

           TOPS:
           Colors chosen by the School Advisory Committee-SAC  Royal or Navy Blue, Yellow and  White

            Must be a solid color except for school approved shirts.
            Small manufacturer's trade mark is acceptable.
            Polo/gold shirt with collared dress shirt with sleeves (no cap sleeves)  or turtlenecks, or T-Shirts- all must be unaltered.
            School approved T-Shirts  (club, spirit, etc) unaltered.

            BOTTOMS:
           Bottoms can be khaki, navy blue or plain blue jeans.
           No Cargo or large pocket style pants, no bell bottoms, no baggy pants,  no hip huggers and no holes.
           Pants/shorts must be worn no lower than the crest of the ilia (hip bones) regardless of length of shirt.
           No shorts, skirts or dresses shorther than five inches (5") above the nee caps as measured standing up.
               (K-5 students may wear jumpers).
           Dresses with sleeves must be one of the school's chosen colors and a solid color.
           Small manufacturer's trade mark is acceptable.

            SHOES:
           
Closed toes and closed backs.
            Sandals with back and back strap.
            No cleats or soccer shoes.

           SWEATERS/SWEATSHIRTS:
           
Must be one of the 3 approved colors.
           Must be a solid color (unless school approved spirit or club).
           Hoods are permitted for grades K-5.

           OTHER:
           No head wear except sunglasses, hats or other sun-protective wear to only be worn while students are outdoors
           during school hours.  However, at all other times, the sun-protective items must be properly stored by the student in
           their pockets, purse, locker or backpack.
           Uniforms required during normal school supervision hours.
           Jacket/Coats- no restritictions for cold or rainy weather only, however they are not to be worn in classrooms.



STUDENT UNIFORM AND GROOMING 7.303
Appropriate dress is the primary responsiblity of the student and his/her parent or guardian.  In order to promote safety, personal hygiene, academic well-being, and moral development, students shall be expected to comply with reasonable requirements relating to dress, grooming and personal appearance.  Students are expected to come to school in uniform with proper attention having been given to personal cleanliness, grooming, and neatness of dress.  Any interpretation of the uniform that is required of this policy shall be the responsibility of the principal of each school: otherwise, the policy shall be enforced as written.  Any such interpretation required by a principal may be appealed to the Superintendent, whose decision shall be final.
