Southport Elementary School with an enrollment of approximately 440 students is part of the Bay District School System in Northwest Florida. In addition to 26 classroom units, our school provides services for students with specific learning needs in the areas of learning disabilities, emotional handicaps, speech/language impairments, early intervention, and gifted education. The school goals for this year encompass the areas of reading, math, writing, parental involvement, and safety. They are based on an annual needs assessment and educational research. Strategies for these goals were developed by school staff and community members and are correlated to Florida's Sunshine State Standards. Southport has been ranked an "A" school for four consecutive years! We have a lot to be proud of at our school. Besides the emphasis on the Sunshine Standards, Southport Elementary has a dynamic liberal arts program, is the recipient of numerous grants, and has an award-winning volunteer program. This combination of careful planning, dedication, and innovation has created a place for children to learn to be the best they can be.
