2014-2015 Title 1 School Improvement Initiative Grant

The Title I office is very excited to have received  a grant in the amount of $455,371.00 to assist the 15 schools who have been identified as in need of improvement. The recipients of the grant are Cedar Grove, Oakland Terrace, Everitt, Lucille Moore, Callaway, Beach,  Cherry Street,  Hiland Park, Jinks, Northside, Parker, Southport, Springfield, Waller, and Patterson. The goal of the grant is for the schools to close their achievement gap with the state's average in the areas of math and writing. The School Improvement funds are to be used with Title I funds to employ six math and two writing coaches to help teachers analyze their data to drive their instruction and interventions, model effective instruction, help the teachers better understand the new standards, and assist with the implementation of interventions for students who are non-proficient. If you have any questions or concerns about this grant, please contact Genia Robinson, Title I Supervisor, at 767-4354.
