Tyndall Elementary

Tyndall Elementary School is located on Tyndall Air Force Base in Bay County Florida. It is one of Bay District’s 33 schools serving the county’s students. Many of the 800 Tyndall students are military dependents who live on the base while others live in Donaldson Point and the eastern section of the Callaway and Parker communities.

The school was built in 1951 and is located on a spacious, fenced twenty-one acre campus. In 2000-2002 the school was totally renovated. The $5.5 million renovation project included new wiring, flooring, air conditioning, windows, and doors as well as additional classrooms for primary students. At this time the cafeteria was expanded by adding a multi-purpose room and the kitchen was expanded and modernized. Now our school is networked, modernized and ready for the 21st century.

Tyndall Elementary School has programs for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students. Instruction is rigorous and relevant to Florida’s State Standards which are the backbone of the curriculum. Consistently high performing Tyndall’s students are supported by a special area program including art, music, and physical education teachers as well as two guidance counselors, a media specialist, a speech/language pathologist and teachers of exceptional students.

The Tyndall climate is one of patriotism and character building. Students are encouraged to set high goals and make good choices toward attaining those goals. Educators hold high standards for academic achievement as well as behavior. Parent surveys indicate the school offers a safe learning environment where everyone is focused on increasing student achievement. School colors are red, white and blue and the school mascot is the thunderbird.
