Media Center News

Welcome to the Library Media Center at Tyndall Elementary.

The Media Center is open to students every day from 7:40 until 1:50 and until 2:45 for parents and teachers.  Students visit once a week with their class to check out books and learn information literacy skills.

Here are a couple programs to encourage reading at home:

Overdrive is a (free) digital library that can be accessed on smartphones, tablets, and other computers.  The Overdrive app can be downloaded from the appropriate app store or from the Overdrive website.  When you download the app, you must choose the library you would like to use (Bay County School District).  Student logins are the standard log in for the Bay District School computers (Username=XLASTFM, Password= last 7 numbers of the student ID).  Books can be read in your browser or downloaded onto a device.  The books are checked out for two weeks  and are returned automatically. Video tutorials are provided in the Help ? section on the Bay County School District Digital Library.

Tyndall Elementary has purchased a subscription to Tumblebooks.  Tumblebooks is an online collection of picture books which students can read or have read to them.  There are also several chapter books in e-book format.

Our Library supports the Accelerated Reader Program.  Students are encouraged to take computerized quizzes on their library books.  When students reach points in increments of 10, their names will be added to a bulletin board in the media center.

Hope to see you soon! Happy Reading!
